When I did my exams over 20 years ago I said to myself: "Never ever again will I do any more exams", - this had just been too nerve-wrecking to do it all over again. That's why I never started a PHD - I just could not stand the thought of going through another exam!
And here we go - 24 years later - I have just signed up for my first exam that will give me the opportunity to get certified to teach here in Texas for more than just one year. To be honest - I wasn't that brave because the test I signed up for was the German one - should not be too much of a problem, should it?
However, I am quite thrilled to be in the same shoes like my kids - having to prepare (at least for the Pedagogy and English exam), getting to the testing center 30 minutes early and sitting through mornings and afternoons of being tested. What an experience!
